Capsbury’s brief was to design a collection that respected their manufacturing heritage in India but also helped them achieve their ambition to blend this with a more European design language.
‘I used the visual language of the structural and decorative arches over doors and windows, that are a recurring theme in traditional Indian architecture, to make a clean and simple collection unified by this constructional archetype. In doing so I was able to represent Capsbury’s roots in India through my own reductive – and European – aesthetic.’
The arch on each piece not only ties them together as a collection but also serves to incorporate the structure or functionality of each object.
